A $25 million gift from the Lusardi family helps build new hospital tower at Scripps Encinitas

The latest philanthropic gift from Warner and Debbie Lusardi will help construct a building expected to have a significant impact on the health of coastal North County residents for decades to come.

The Lusardi family have been living in San Diego County since the 1860’s. The Lusardi Construction Co was founded in 1958 in Vista, CA and over time became a national brand. Currently living in Rancho Santa Fe, Warner and Debbie are deeply rooted in the San Diego community. Scripps hospital has been an intricate part in helping all their family members since the beginning and was a large part of the reason that they made this decision. Their generous contribution of $25 million will fund a 3 story, 64-room Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinitas.

This development will be named the Lusardi Tower and plans to open its doors in 2025. A three-story, 68,000-square-foot medical office building is currently under construction on the campus’s northern side. Once that project is complete, a groundbreaking for the Lusardi Tower is expected in 2022. With the cost of furnishings and equipment included, the estimated total cost of the building is $252 million.
