What got JR into Real Estate? A 3rd generation broker, JR grew up in a real estate family. Each time his parents sold a house, they paid him a $10 ‘commission.’ With the financial motivation, he came to appreciate the hard work and long hours his parents put in. Even at that age, he learned some of the basics of promoting a listing, presenting an offer and escrow. After graduating from The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, JR attended UCLA and earned a degree in Political Science. Immediately after graduating, JR moved to Poland in Eastern Europe where he developed a career marketing beer and spirits. JR later attended the Goizueta Business School in Atlanta’s Emory University and earned an M.B.A. He continued his marketing career in brand management working on the Lysol cleaning products brand and later Jack in the Box. Feeling the pull back to his real estate roots, JR studied for and passed the California Real Estate Broker’s exam in 2002. Since then, JR has been selling, renting, and managing fine properties in San Diego. While working in Real Estate, JR also dedicated considerable time to his community as Trustee for the La Jolla Town Council (2005-2011) and as President of the La Jolla Real Estate Brokers’s Association (2007, 2012-2013). In 2013, JR was awarded the R.K. Smith Broker of the Year Award. • Broker of the Year Award, La Jolla Real Estate Brokers’ Association. • Real Estate Designations: CRS (Certified Residential Specialist), RMS (Risk Management Specialist), and GRI (Graduate, Realtor Institute) GREEN (NAR green designation) . • Member, National Association of Realtors (NAR) • Member, California Association of Realtors (CAR) • Member, San Diego Association of Realtors (SDAR) • Shareholder and member, La Jolla Real Estate Brokers’ Association Inc.
