La Jolla's Windansea Neighborhood in the Beach Barber-Tract

This quaint La Jolla community is part of the Beach Barber Tract, and is located between the La Jolla Village and BirdRock communities. Geographically, it is defined by the beach-front extending north of Palomar Avenue and south of Westbourne Street, and is named after an oceanfront hotel that burned down in the late 1940's.

Windansea, the famous surf break known for its consistently good surf, historical palm-covered shack and history as a home break to numerous professional surfers. During the summer months, Windansea can have six-to-eight foot surf. Other surf breaks in the vicinity such as Big Rock and Simmons add to the allure of Windansea, but the sunsets and popular beach area help classify it as a world class destination.

With it's casual beach-side approach, Windansea offers a large array of real estate; charming English-style cottages, exquisite oceanfront homes, condominiums and rentals that encompass breathtaking views.

Windansea Talk

"To live by Windansea is to live in a community full of people who truly appreciate where they live and know how to enjoy the sunshine. And never is this more apparent than during Daylight Savings time. When school has let out and the work day is done, it seems as though everyone in the neighborhood congregates at the water to watch the sunset. The entire stretch of boardwalk is enjoyed by joggers, surfers, bikers, painters, dog-walkers, couples and families, old and young. What I love most about this area is that it's very much a "locals" scene. Every bench is claimed by locals, rarely is there a tourist in sight.

Aside from the charming homes and quaint side streets in the Windansea area, the waterfront is one of the most scenic and picturesque beaches in all of San Diego. This are of La Jolla is situated in the perfect location. I can walk to the nearest watering hole when I want to be social, head out for a jog when I want to be active, and sit by the beach when I want to relax. All good things rolled into one awesome location."
