Coronado Homes

Coronado homesA half-mile loop on streets between Orange Avenue and the ocean takes you past some of the city's historic Victorian homes with beautiful English cottage style gardens.

You might pass the colonial revival style house that's known as "the Oz house" because it's the place where L. Frank Baum, author of the "Wizard of Oz" books often wintered.

Area Information

Coronado is not a typical modern suburb, it is a collection of custom homes which reflect building over a 100 year period. Unlike large-scale, uniform developments where houses are grouped by style, size, and price, As time went on, estate sized lots were sub-divided, units were added off alleys, large houses were split into two or more homes, and houses were relocated. Coronado's development and evolution was more random and organic than many other contemporary suburbs.

West of Orange Avenue - Towards NAS North Island there are many simpler but still pricey dwellings, these homes may range from about $700,000 to $2 million on streets branching off of Alameda, H, I and J Streets, plus some very exceptional homes near the water.
