Exercising with kids in tow can a challenge. But San Diego fitness centers that offer childcare might be just the ticket to keep your workouts on track. In many cases, the monthly rates are astoundingly reasonable given the number of childcare hours covered. Here are some of our top choices.
24 Hour Fitness (20+ locations)
We like this nationwide gym for the range of services it offers, the group classes, reasonable prices – and of course, the childcare! Flexible membership options are available at varying rates across locations.
Kids’ Club: Children 6 months to 11 years play under the supervision of first aid- and CPR-certified caregivers. Membership and childcare fees vary per club (typically $4-$5/child), and not every club offers kid care.
Crunch Fitness (Carmel Valley, Oceanside)
With trademark group fitness classes and a “no judgments” philosophy, you can find your exercise niche at a Crunch gym and probably make a friend or two while you’re at it. Membership costs range from $19.95 to $99.95 per month.
Kid’s Crunch Babysitting: Available at select clubs as a $25 add-on to your monthly membership fee or $5 per child, per visit.
The Dailey Method (Downtown)
A relative newcomer to the fitness world – and to the downtown area – The Dailey Method’s body-sculpting classes combine yoga, Pilates, and barre training. It’s a big hit with local moms! Check the website for a new student offer.
Childcare: Kids 10 and under have their own playtime for $7/child or varying add-on rates to monthly membership packages.
Hapa Yoga (Mission Valley, Eastlake)
There aren’t many yoga studios that provide childcare. Hapa offers a range of yoga and fitness classes, including classes for babies and kids!
Childcare: Kids time includes toys, art, and educational entertainment at Hapa. Drop-ins are $12/child or purchase a 10-pack for $90.
LA Fitness (11 locations)
Get the standard big gym variety of equipment, classes, and amenities for a low monthly rate at your choice of locations.
Kids Klub: For up to two hours, kids 3 months and older play and watch TV, all for a low monthly rate.
Point Loma Sports Club (Liberty Station)
This local gym is highly rated for its variety of workout choices and extra amenities. Think massage, far infrared sauna, towel service, and more. It makes the higher membership fees worth it!
Child Care: For $45/month your little ones enjoy playmates, toys, and movie time.
YMCA (24 locations)
We’ve been singing praises of the Y for years, and it’s still a community fitness staple.
Child Watch and Kids Club: Children 8 weeks and older play for free with a monthly family membership ($69 single adult, $89 two adults).
