With the New Year in full swing, we are raising a glass to the genius who invented the happy hour. You can keep the celebratory spirit of the holidays alive year round by unwinding at our favorite happy hour spots.

Check out this list of top happy hour menus in the San Diego area.

The Balboa Bar and Grill 1863 Fifth Ave., San Diego
A hidden gem in Banker’s Hill, their burgers and fries are what your happy hour is missing. $5 Balboa Burgers and $1 off all alcoholic drinks are yours every day, 4-6 p.m.

Bar Bodega 1980 Kettner Blvd., Ste. 30, San Diego
You might need a reservation at this hopping happy hour in Little Italy. Prices are slashed 50%  every day from 4-6 p.m. That means you can double up on your favorite tapas. Don’t miss the $5 sangria, $4.50 draft beer, and $6 wine. Score more on Tuesdays with 2 for $4 tacos all day long.

Draft Republic La Jolla 4282 Esplanade Ct., San Diego
If you’re looking for a casual spot for a big group, Draft Republic is our happy hour hangout of choice. You get $2 off draft beer, $6 wine and well drinks, and $7 snacks every day, 2-6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close. There’s also ping pong, foosball, shuffleboard, and arcade games to play away the workday tension.

Green Acres Campus Pointe 10300 Campus Point Dr., San Diego
We love this Sorrento Valley hot spot that goes big for happy hour. Prize trivia sessions on Thursdays and live music on Fridays start at 5 p.m. Enjoy food and drink specials from 4-8 p.m., including “Acre Bites” and pizza, $7.25 Malarkey margaritas, $12.50 house cocktails, and $6.75 beers, spirits, and wine.

King and Queen Cantina 1490 Kettner Blvd., San Diego
Meeting your taco and margarita needs in Little Italy, this favorite Mexican eatery does happy hour hard. In addition to weekly specials Tuesday through Thursday, a mouthwatering happy hour menu is available all day Monday and 4-6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close every other day. Don’t miss the Korean taco, pork belly bites, and Tinga taquitos.

Lionfish 435 Fifth Ave., San Diego
Located in the swanky Pendry Hotel of the Gaslamp District, Lionfish’s happy hour menu offers a selection of their modern, upscale seafood menu. Enjoy $9 appetizer plates, $1 oysters, $8 hand rolls, $8 wines, $10 cocktails, $6 draft beers every day 5-7 p.m.

PB Ale House 721 Grand Ave., San Diego
Put a hop in your step at PB Ale House’s “Hoppy Hour” Monday through Friday, 3-6 p.m. It includes $3 house beers, $5 guest beers, a $7 craft cocktail, half-priced bottles of wine, $2 discounted starters, and a $13 burger-and-a-beer deal.
